Every colour service here starts with a consultation, and for correction work it is a separate free appointment. We run them on Tuesdays, fifteen minutes each, no obligation to book anything afterwards. Most people arrive unsure what to ask, so here is a list.
“How many sessions will this take?”
The honest answer is sometimes three. Lifting a dark box dye to a cool blonde in one sitting is how hair breaks. A stylist who promises one session for something that needs three is selling you the first appointment and hoping you do not come back for the second.
“What will it cost, in total?”
Ask for the whole plan priced, not just the next appointment. You should leave the consultation with a figure for the full journey and a figure for the first session. Ours is written down before you sit in the chair.
“What does the upkeep look like?”
A colour you love that needs a £58 root tint every five weeks is a different commitment from one you refresh twice a year. Ask what the diary and the cost look like twelve months out, then decide.
“Can my hair take it?”
We do a strand test on anything that involves lightening previously coloured hair. It takes minutes and it settles the argument. If the test says the hair will not hold, we will tell you, and we will suggest something that works instead.
“Who will actually do it?”
At Mane Studio the person who does the consultation does the colour. Priya takes most correction work, Nina takes tonal and blonde. Either way you meet them first, and the price is the same whichever of them you see.
